AGM Minutes – taken by Jenn Doelman with assistance from Charlotte Doyle
The meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm on Monday, April 7th, 2025 at the Barr Line Community Centre in Douglas, ON by outgoing president, Charlotte Doyle.
Motion to accept the agenda by Jenn Doelman, seconded by Ruth McNulty.
Motion to accept the minutes from the 2024 AGM were accepted by Dave Erling, seconded by Tauney Stinson.
The financial report was read aloud by Charlotte (Chair). Motion to accept by Dave Erling, Seconded by Diane Vriend.
The executive position was declared vacant. Tauney Stinson was acclaimed as President for 2025.
Charlotte Doyle was acclaimed as Vice-Chair/Past President.
Murray Borer was acclaimed as the new ‘OMAFA Rep/Club contact with Bee Inspector’ – this is a new position that encourages regular contact between the club and the local bee inspector. Murray will provide information at the end of his term as to how best to summarize the roles and responsibilties.
Amanda Berndt was willing to let her name stand as Secretary (done by Messenger in her absence)
Nancy Baker was willing to let her name stand as Treasurer (done by Messenger in her absence)
All 2024 board members were willing to let their names stand as Directors in 2025. No additional nominations came from the floor at the 2025 AGM.
Murray Borer led a discussion on what to look for in beekeeping diseases and other best management practices using his visual aid, Honey Super.
Tauney Stinson presented on her efforts to work with the Twp of McNab/Braeside and their consultant (County of Renfrew planner) regarding the proposed introduction of an urban beekeeping bylaw and other beekeeping regulations in Renfrew County.
Tauney Stinson presented the proposed governance documents that the 2024 board had put forth as resources for the 2025 and future boards of the UOVBA. AGM attendees provided insight and feedback to have a document that would be feasible for the membership. Assuming the final version will be shared at the 2026 AGM?
