This is the recording of the second virtual lecture in our "Understanding Varroa Mites" series!
Title: Varroa Mite Population Dynamics and Monitoring: Know thy Enemy
Description: Beekeeping in Canada changed dramatically with the introduction of Varroa destructor. Although we have learned a lot about the damage these mites cause, beekeepers are not always able to keep Varroa below damaging levels. Incorporating regular monitoring can help beekeepers act in a timely manner, but what exactly are these numbers telling you? This talk will explore Varroa population dynamics using real data collected over 2 seasons to understand fall monitoring numbers and how this data fits into management decisions.
This lecture series was made possible by funding from the Ontario Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA).
